Shepherd’s Crook
For almost 25 years, the church and the food pantry volunteers have been dedicated to alleviating food insecurity and providing assistance to individuals and families in need.
In October 2015 our Shepherd’s Crook Food Pantry became a more ecumenical ministry through the combined efforts of the local Episcopal, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian and Lutheran churches. A Board of Directors comprised of SPBTS members oversees the operations of the “Crook,” but those from other churches participate in the day-to-day operations.
The Crook is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 am to Noon. Please use the DeWees Hall Handicap Door located on the north side of the building, at the top of the driveway. There is signage on the door.
Shepherd’s Crook Food Pantry is excited to announce the start of their third annual “August is Shepherd’s Crook Month” food drive. This year’s drive aims to collect essential items and raise funds to support those in need throughout our community. We invite residents and businesses to join us in making this event a success.
Shepherd’s Crook is currently serving almost 2,000 people per month and must purchase food from local grocery stores. The annual food drive is a crucial initiative that helps ensure our pantry’s shelves are stocked and that we can provide critical support to those experiencing food insecurity. Each week, we highlight items that are always in high demand.
Week One (August 1-11): Evaporated Milk, Maruchan Yakisoba Chicken and Maruchan Yakisoba Beef varieties (please no spicy flavors)
Week Two (August 12-18): Canned Beans: Black and Light Red Kidney. Canned Fruit: Pineapple Chunks, Peach Slices, Mixed Fruit Cocktail. Canned Whole Kernel Corn.
Week Three (August 19-25): Toilet Paper and Amour Beef Stew
Week Four (August 26-31): Hormel Compleats: Salisbury Steak with Sliced Potatoes, Meatloaf with Gravy & Mashed Potatoes, Roast Beef, Chicken Breast with Gravy & Mashed Potatoes, Rice & Chicken, and Turkey & Stuffing
How You Can Help:
- Donate Non-Perishable Food Items: See the list above for the items that we are requesting for this drive. However, if you wish to make donations through the year, any unexpired non-perishable food are welcome and appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at our pantry location on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, 10am – Noon.
- Organize a Food Drive: We encourage businesses, schools, and community groups to host their own food drives and contribute the collected items to Shepherd’s Crook.
- Make a Monetary Donation: Financial contributions allow us to purchase perishable items. Donations can be made online via our website or by contacting us directly.
- Volunteer: We serve a meal four days a week. Extra volunteers are needed for cooking and serving these meals. Your time and energy make a significant difference in our ability to serve the community.
