Who We Are (Mission Statement)

Welcome to St. Paul’s by-the-Sea, a vibrant church community in the historic resort town of Ocean City, Maryland.

Our formal mission statement is to “Love God, Serve the World”

In recent years we have come to express our mission as ‘Feeding People: Body, Soul and Spirit. Here are some of the main ways we feed others:

Body: The NOEL Community, Parish Breakfasts, Shepherd’s Crook, and various social gatherings throughout the year.

Soul: The various programs offered through our many ministries and outreach.

Spirit: Worship from the breadth of the Anglican tradition, a variety of Christian formation offerings and individual pastoral care.

Located just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, St. Paul’s by-the-Sea has been ministering to Ocean City residents and visitors for over a century. The parish was founded in 1878 as a summer mission of St. Paul’s in Berlin, Maryland. We invite you to join us in both our formal and informal missions by learning more about them throughout our website.

On November 26th, 2013, we experienced a tragic fire in our Rectory which claimed the life of Father David Dingwall. Tributes to Father David may be viewed here.

We currently offer a 10am Sunday service, either Holy Eucharist Rt II or Morning Prayer Rt II. This service is accompanied by music. To make it easy to follow the service, we provide a printed bulletin that includes all hymns and liturgy, all of which are also projected on monitors at the front of the church. Services are in-person and live streamed to our Facebook page.
