Tenebrae:

On Good Friday, April 14 at 7:00 pm, we will celebrate a Tenebrae service in the sanctuary. Named for the Latin word for darkness, it is a service reflecting on the seven last words of Christ on the Cross (“I thirst”, “Father, forgive them…”, &c). The sanctuary will have seven candles which will be lit. There is a reading from the Passion, a reflection on the word from the Cross, and a hymn sung. After that a candle will be extinguished. We continue this through the seven Last Words until the final one, when the last candle is extinguished and the sanctuary is plunged into darkness. There is a loud noise signifying the closing of the tomb. Please join us for this dramatic and prayerful service entering into the last moments of Our Savior!
