Lay Ministry

St. Paul’s by-the-Sea is proud of its strong tradition of lay ministry.

Since September of 2020, Morning Prayer services are led by our Licensed Worship Leaders, six parishioners who participated in training at the Bishop’s Institute for Discipleship, Leadership and Ministry.

With the reintroduction of the common cup, our Eucharistic Ministers have been called back into action assisting the priest in setting up and clearing the altar, and serving the wine during communion.

Our worship leaders do not vest for services. Vesting of Eucharistic ministers is left to the supply clergy’s discretion.

We have a loyal group of lectors, ushers, and counters who often fill multiple roles on a Sunday. These are wonderful ways to serve the church and we are always looking for volunteers.

All parishioners are welcome to join any of these above ministries. Training and licensing through the Bishop’s Institute is required to be a lay worship leader or a lay Eucharistic minister. Please contact the church office at 410-289-3453 if you are interested.

The quarterly server schedule is prepared by Jody Farley who can be reached through the church office.
