Faith formation is a critical component of St. Paul’s mission and ministry. A variety of formation opportunities are available for people of all ages. We are constantly reviewing our formation programming in an attempt to offer everyone the means to grow in their relationship to God and in living into their identity as baptized followers of Jesus Christ.
At St. Paul’s-By-The Sea , we believe that the most effective Christian formation happens through participation. Rather than a traditional “Sunday School”, our members learn about their faith through regular engagement in our worship services. Whether it is acting out a Bible Story or helping with our food ministry, our members do it all!
The SPBTS Book Club meets seasonally. These book studies delve into some of the most fundamental questions and concepts of the Christian faith. Participants engage in spirited conversation about the contemporary or classic work they are reading. Some recent book selections include: God’s Politics by Jim Wallis, The Practice of Prayer by Margaret Guenther, and The Meaning of Jesus: Two Visions by N.T. Wright and Marcus Borg. Call the church office for the day and time of the next session. Sometimes the group is used for baptismal/confirmation preparation.
Some of our programs have been suspended temporarily while we undergo the reconstruction process. We look forward to the return of Faith Forum, Sunday School, and Church Nursery as well as the midweek Eucharist followed by Lectionary Bible Study.
